Gallery: HondaJet's Elite S Debuts At AirVenture

Honda Aircraft introduced the Elite S version of its HondaJet in May, with increased maximum takeoff weight of 200 lb., which allows customers to fly up to 120 nm farther or take an additional passenger on a typical mission, the company says. The HondaJet Elite S builds on the Garmin G3000 customized avionics suite, with new features, including FAA DataComm and ACARS (Aircraft Communication Addressing and Reporting System) to replace traditional voice commands with text-based messaging to improve the clarity and efficiency of communications, the company says. The HondaJet Elite S incorporates Honda Aircraft’s over-the-wing engine mount configuration, natural laminar flow nose and wing, and composite fuselage. The aircraft is powered by the GE Honda Aero Engines HF120.

The cabin of the HondaJet Eite S features a full-service galley, private lavatory with optional belted eat and a Bongiovi sound system. Cabin seating layout allows for more than 7 ft. of space between passengers. Sales are going well and Honda Aircraft has a “healthy backlog” for the aircraft, according to a Honda Aircraft official at AirVenture. The company is currently building two to three aircraft per month, he says. The HondaJet Elite S has a base price of $5.4 million before options.
