2023 Aviation Week Photo Contest Editors’ Picks: General Aviation

This photo of a Lockheed T-33 was taken over southern Utah near St. George from a De Havilland Canada DHC-4 Caribou during a jet warbird gathering at the Western Sky Aviation Warbird Museum.

A Cessna 170 skims the Knik River in Alaska. This photograph was taken from the back seat of a Piper PA-18 Super Cub while in formation low over the river. The Leica SL2’s shutter speed was 1/30 sec.

Mika Brageot flies his MXS-R at 200 kt. and full throttle at very low altitude during Air Race X in October. Pilots fly at different locations around the world, competing for the winning time in a remote competition.

This year marks the 32nd anniversary of the Scott Spencer Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic held on Labor Day weekend. The balloons are pictured stacked up, waiting their turn to skim the pond in Bernardine Quinn Riverside Park.
