Boeing's 737-900ER Seen As Direct Competitor To A321
The new Boeing 737-900ER program launched this week will let the U.S. manufacturer match up more closely to the Airbus A321, JSA Research analyst Paul Nisbet said.
The 737-900ER -- formerly known as the -900X -- was launched after Indonesia's Lion Air signed a deal for 30 firm orders and 30 options. The new derivative has greater passenger capacity than the -900 or any earlier 737 model, and also has better range than the -900.
