WICHITA—Shaesta Waiz, founder of Dreams Soar, was born in an Afghan refugee camp. She settled with her family in Richmond, California, in 1987 during the peak of the Afghan-Soviet war. Last year, she completed a solo around-the-world flight in a single-engine Bonanza A36 aircraft. On her journey, she hosted 32 outreach events and met with 3,000 students to promote aviation careers.
