Data: Airbus Revs Up Deliveries In September As New Orders Tumble
Airbus deliveries picked up in September after a summer easing with 72 commercial aircraft handed over, including 59 A320neo family aircraft, six A220s, two A330-900s and three A350-900s.
The output brings Airbus’ total delivered aircraft through Sept. 30 to 547, meaning the European airframer must still deliver at least 313 aircraft in the next three months to meet the midpoint of its target of between 850-870 aircraft by the end of the year.
It was Airbus’ best month for deliveries since June, when it delivered 89 aircraft. Yet the airframer will have to deliver about 104 aircraft each month if it expects to meet the mid-point of its full year target. At this point in 2025, Airbus had delivered 507 aircraft, which illustrates its increased output so far in 2026. The company later handed over 136 aircraft in December 2025 to reach 793 delivered aircraft for the year.
The company recorded three cancellations in September, all were A220-300s, bringing year-to-date cancellations to 69 aircraft: 24 A220s, 30 A320neo family aircraft and 15 A330-900s.
Airbus’ September orders fell steeply compared to recent months, with 17 new aircraft firmed. Most were for A320neos, placed by Air Cairo. FlyOne Armenia ordered two A321neos. Its net orders for the year through Sept. 30 total 1,105 aircraft, more than double where Airbus stood at the end of September 2025, when it had 514 net orders.
Its 2026 gross order total through Sept. 30 is 1,174 aircraft. In 2025, Airbus’ gross order total for the full year was 1,000 aircraft. Airbus eclipsed that 2025 gross order plateau in July.
The company’s backlog stands at 9,310 aircraft. Airbus will hold its third-quarter earnings conference call on Oct. 28.
