Work to prepare the second Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft is underway at the Kennedy Space Center for a planned April Fools 2026 launch on the Artemis II crewed flight test. The White House proposed to end both programs after Artemis III, which features a return of U.S. astronauts to the lunar surface for the first time since 1972.
