Jens joined Aviation Week and Aviation Daily in 2000 as one of the European correspondents. Later his role was expanded to cover international air transport. In 2013 he was named Managing Editor Commercial.

Jens frequently appears on radio and TV to comment on industry matters. In 2003, he received the Hugo Junkers Award of the German aviation press for his coverage of Fairchild Dornier’s bankruptcy. He was named the country’s top travel and air transport writer by the Travel Industry Club three times. Jens graduated from the Munich School of Journalism.

Lufthansa and Air China plan to extend their Beijing-based maintenance joint venture Ameco for another 25 years in anticipation of China's growing maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) market. Air China holds 60% in the venture and Lufthansa 40%. Ameco's revenues amounted to $150 million last year, and the venture has been profitable in every year, Lufthansa Technik's CEO August Wilhelm Henningsen told The DAILY.

Two unions representing British Airways' baggage handlers and other ground staff, GMB and the Transport and General Workers Union (T&G), yesterday rejected a call for binding arbitration brought forward by the airline and are moving ahead with strike ballots. First results of the vote are expected on Monday. BA offered an 8.5% pay increase over three years to its ground workers, proposals that the unions turned down.

Germanwings will base two more aircraft in Stuttgart and launch several new city-pairs in the upcoming winter timetable, a move that will make Germanwings the biggest low-fare carrier at Stuttgart. The airline will fly from Stuttgart to London Stansted, Madrid, Warsaw, Krakow and Zagreb. Also, the carrier will add Dresden and Hamburg as domestic routes and increase frequencies to Berlin from two to three daily.
