Jens frequently appears on radio and TV to comment on industry matters. In 2003, he received the Hugo Junkers Award of the German aviation press for his coverage of Fairchild Dornier’s bankruptcy. He was named the country’s top travel and air transport writer by the Travel Industry Club three times. Jens graduated from the Munich School of Journalism.

The two managing directors of German low-fare carrier DBA together took a 20% stake in the company, DBA said yesterday. Peter Wojahn and Martin Gauss each bought a 10% stake in the airline. Eighty percent is still held by Hans-Rudolf Wohrl, who bought the airline from British Airways for EUR1 almost a year ago.

Ryanair posted better-than-expected results for the first quarter of 2004 but warned that yields will continue their downward spiral toward the end of the year. The airline's after-tax profit improved 21% to EUR53.1 million (US$64 million). Sales increased 23% to EUR302 million (US$364 million), and the airline carried 6.6 million passengers, up 28%. Ancillary revenues were up 40%, significantly more than in its core business. Analysts had expected a 16% profit improvement.
