Prior to taking on the Executive Editor role, Jen was Aviation Week's Congressional Editor. Jen came to Aviation Week in March 2011 from Politico, where she covered the intersection of defense and politics. She also worked as a reporter and editor for Defense Daily, Inside the Army, The Other Paper and The Columbus Dispatch.
Jen received a Master’s degree in journalism as a Kiplinger Fellow at the Ohio State University. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in history and journalism from the University of Michigan.
A congressionally chartered blue-ribbon panel is warning that U.S. government spending to sustain war projects, such as the $35 billion effort to train Afghan security forces, could provide massive opportunities for future waste. In a 240-page report out Aug. 31, the Commission on Wartime Contracting says the U.S. is already squandering up to $60 billion on contracts to support operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In a White House Rose Garden speech on jobs and the highway bill on Wednesday, President Obama urged Congress to pass a “clean extension” of the FAA bill that would provide back pay for workers laid off during the August shutdown before the current bill expires.
