Based in Washington, Jen managed Aviation Week’s worldwide defense, space and security coverage from 2013 to January 2024.
Prior to taking on the Executive Editor role, Jen was Aviation Week's Congressional Editor. Jen came to Aviation Week in March 2011 from Politico, where she covered the intersection of defense and politics. She also worked as a reporter and editor for Defense Daily, Inside the Army, The Other Paper and The Columbus Dispatch.
Jen received a Master’s degree in journalism as a Kiplinger Fellow at the Ohio State University. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in history and journalism from the University of Michigan.
The Communications Workers of America is wielding the FAA shutdown as a political bludgeon, ramping up mailers and robo-calls in 25 House districts that blame Republicans for the two-week impasse that ended earlier this month. CWA, which represents the Association of Flight Attendants and is affiliated with customer service agents for some airlines, says it is spending more than $500,000 to target 600,000 voters in those House districts.
A congressional analyst foresees a continuing resolution that would keep defense spending at the fiscal 2011 level in fiscal 2012 – effectively cutting military accounts $40-50 billion from what President Obama had requested.
