Prior to taking on the Executive Editor role, Jen was Aviation Week's Congressional Editor. Jen came to Aviation Week in March 2011 from Politico, where she covered the intersection of defense and politics. She also worked as a reporter and editor for Defense Daily, Inside the Army, The Other Paper and The Columbus Dispatch.
Jen received a Master’s degree in journalism as a Kiplinger Fellow at the Ohio State University. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in history and journalism from the University of Michigan.
At the Military Aviation Museum in the heart of tactical aviation country in Virginia Beach, Va., Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney told a Virginia television station Sept. 8 that if he were elected president, he’d add more fifth-generation F-22 Raptor jets. But not even all of the F-22’s allies on Capitol Hill immediately agreed that is the right course to take.
At least one U.S. senator has placed a hold on a bill that would prohibit U.S. airlines from participating in the EU’s emissions trading system (ETS), preventing a vote on the contentious issue. Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.), the chairman of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, says the committee provided “broad support” for the bill. Still, “a couple of people don’t like it,” Rockefeller tells Aviation Week . “One of them might be holding it up.”
The congressional compromise to keep the government running from the end of the fiscal year until next March stipulates that a weather satellite program should remain on schedule and blocks the Air Force from its plan to retire aircraft. The bill supports the Obama administration’s request for $88.5 billion in war funding.
