Based in Washington, Jen managed Aviation Week’s worldwide defense, space and security coverage from 2013 to January 2024.
Prior to taking on the Executive Editor role, Jen was Aviation Week's Congressional Editor. Jen came to Aviation Week in March 2011 from Politico, where she covered the intersection of defense and politics. She also worked as a reporter and editor for Defense Daily, Inside the Army, The Other Paper and The Columbus Dispatch.
Jen received a Master’s degree in journalism as a Kiplinger Fellow at the Ohio State University. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in history and journalism from the University of Michigan.
The U.K.’s MBDA is hoping that the accuracy of its Brimstone missiles will persuade the U.S. military to add a new weapon during a time when new programs are a tough sell. The U.K. has used the Brimstone in operations since 2007 and has fired the dual-mode precision strike weapon more than 300 times in Afghanistan and Libya with a 98% success rate. “The missile does not miss,” says spokesman Douglas Denneny.
Saab is rolling four of its U.S.-based business units into one, Saab Defense & Security USA, company officials told reporters at the Association of the U.S. Army conference Oct. 22. The change brings four Saab units — Saab Training USA LLC, Saab Barracuda LLC, Saab Support and Services LLC, and the defense elements of Saab Sensis — into one that is based in the U.S.
DEFENSE FORECAST: In a 10-year forecast for the Defense Department, TechAmerica sees investment accounts falling to $140 billion per year in fiscal 2014 and staying at that level through fiscal 2018, when the numbers increase to about $156 billion.
