Tanzanian Civil Aviation Authority to invest USD4.4million in radars
The Tanzanian Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) has announced that it has set aside USD4.4 million for buying two radars.
The new radars are part of the authority’s priorities to improve air navigation services with enhanced communication and surveillance.
“Buying new radars is economically viable. But there are also other benefits such as allowing expeditious and orderly flow of traffic, control and passing of information and search and rescue of aircraft,” said Hamza Johari, director general, TCAA.
The TCAA needs to install at least four radars to accommodate the entire country’s airspace, in Mbeya, Kilimanjaro, Mwanza and replacing the outdated one in Dar es Salaam.
