Swissport improves import and export facilities in Tanzania
Swissport has improved its export and import facilities in Tanzania to boost the performance of the aviation industry.
The company has put up an import warehouse valued at TSH26 billion, (USD13 million), which is to be completed this month.
Swissport CEO, Gaudence Temu, has said the company has improved its facilities, with the export facility’s cold room being expanded and partitioned into two to provide different environments.
The export facilities are now capable of storing perishable goods such as flowers, fish and meat.
In terms of import, the new air-cargo warehouse is a secured environment, with access control through turnstiles and biometric locks and CCTV.
The warehouse contains an express handling and courier facility, mini-shipment tower, dedicated bulk, out-of-gauge storage and a release facility, fully covered shipment release and loading bays equipped with dock levellers and loading bridges.
“Anticipated growth of the aviation industry in Tanzania will just be a pipe-dream in the absence of reliable export and import aviation service providers,” said Temu.
