SIA’s Scoot Unit Initial Interest In Medium-Haul Expansion, Says CEO
Singapore Airlines’ (SIA) low-cost medium-haul carrier, Scoot, aims to serve eight overseas destinations by year-end, and may grow its business by expanding increasingly into short-haul markets.
CEO Campbell Wilson tells Aviation Week that earlier this year the carrier, which operates Boeing 777s, considered launching services to Jakarta, Indonesia, and Manila, Philippines, but could not get the traffic rights.
