SAA retracts statement over suspension of CCO
South African Airways has retracted a statement that announced the suspension of its chief commercial office, Sylvian Bosc, as he had not been informed of an impending disciplinary enquiry, ch-aviation reports.
The statement was released earlier this month, and said a forensic investigation had shown Bosc had manipulated feasibility figures relating to the Johannesburg O.R. Tambo - Abu Dhabi International route in favour of its launch.
"A former SAA International Network Planner previously warned Bosc that the exaggerated fare price that Bosc had used in the calculation, would not be achieved, and that this would cause further losses to SAA," it said.
It was said that Bosc ignored any advice put forward, resulting in the launch of the loss-making Abu Dhabi route.
"To the extent that the media release may suggest that Bosc has been found guilty of any misconduct or impropriety it is sincerely regretted and no impairment to Bosc's identity was sought or intended," further statement said.
