Namibian Flyafrica resumes flights after being grounded earlier this month
Nambia Flyafrica flights between Windhoek and O.R. Tambo International Airport resume after being grounded by court order earlier this month.
The order prohibited the Namibian partner of Flyafrica, Nomad Aviation, from transporting passengers on the route pending the final result of the legal action Air Nambia took against Nomad Aviation.
Air Namibia is asking the court to declare Nomad Aviation as not having a valid license to operate the passenger flights.
Last week, Flyafrica announced the resumption of its Windhoek and O.R. Tambo International Airport flights.
“Air Namibia has thrown down every hurdle they can to stop us, even running to the High Court to seek an injunction to prevent us flying while claiming to welcome competition. Air Namibia has fought bitterly to keep us out of this market. While three South African airlines fly between Johannesburg and Windhoek Air Namibia feel they should be the only Namibian airline that is allowed to do this,” said Clifford Strydom, CEO of Namibian Flyafrica.
There will be three weekly flights on the route, with plans to make the route operate daily by November.
