Med-View Airlines to add its first widebody this summer
Nigerian carrier Med-View Airlines will add its first widebody this summer, reports Flightglobal.
The airline is currently attending the IATA AGM in Miami.
The airline's chief executive Muneer Bankole said: “My aim is to let people know that with the new government in Nigeria today, with our new president and our new focus, our country has got a new lease of life and in particular there is a mandate to grow the aviation industry. Med-View is adding its first widebody for scheduled operations in July with an ex-Aeromexico Boeing 767-300ER that is being acquired under a lease-purchase deal with Aercap.”
The 767 will initially be used on Haj pilgrimage flights this summer with scheduled services from Nigerian capital Abuja to Jeddah and on to Dubai following in November.
“Our mission here in Miami is to find partners,” says Bankole. “We intend to open more routes in Africa over the next 12 months.”
Services to Guinea, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast and Liberia all on the agenda.
