Embraer is hoping that its new E190F freighter conversion will fill an emerging gap in the market.
This year’s Farnborough Airshow static park will have a different look when it comes to new commercial airliners.
Boeing, which is dealing with ongoing production quality and other issues under FAA scrutiny, plans not to bring any aircraft to Farnborough, although the company is expected to display a cabin mock-up of the 777X.
Qatar Airways, however, is expected to bring one of its Boeing 787-9s.
Airbus, meanwhile, will headline its airliner display line with one of Air India’s first A350-900s, from an order of 20 -900s and 20 -1000s in the carrier’s new livery. Air India, now privatized under the Tata Group, is in growth mode.
Other Airbus aircraft expected to be on display include a JetBlue A220-300 and a Virgin Atlantic A330-900.
Franco-Italian turboprop OEM ATR, an Airbus company, will show an ATR 72-600, which will also feature in the flying display.
Embraer, meanwhile, will debut its E190F freighter. Embraer sees the E190F conversion with its maximum payload of 10.7 tonnes as a bridge between turboprop freighters and aging narrowbody cargo aircraft, such as the 737-300F. The first E190F will be delivered to Kenya-based cargo airline Astral Aviation later this year.
The Brazilian OEM will also show its E195 E2 crossover jet in the static park as well as in the flying display.
