A slew of deals for Embraer jets have been announced, including a new firm order for six E195-E2s for Canary Islands’ regional carrier Binter and a firm order for seven more E175s from American Airlines.
The announcements, made June 20 at the Paris Air Show, also included Embraer revealing an order signed in January with an undisclosed customer for 15 E195-E2s was placed by Florida-based lessor Azorra. That deal takes Azorra’s firm E2 orders to 35.
Embraer gave list prices for the Azorra ($1.2 billion), Binter ($504.7 million) and American ($403.4 million) deals.
Binter was the first European customer to receive the E195-E2 and the new order takes its total for the type to 16. Deliveries from Binter’s previous orders will be completed by mid-2024.
American’s new E175s will be operated by wholly owned subsidiary Envoy Air. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in Q4 2023. Envoy’s fleet of E-Jets will grow to over 141 aircraft by the end of 2024.
Separately, it was also announced at Paris Tuesday that Canadian carrier Porter Airlines has signed a sale and leaseback agreement with Irish lessor Avolon for 10 new Embraer E195-E2s
The deal is valued at $841 million at list prices, Avolon said. Four of the aircraft are scheduled for delivery in 2023, with the rest to be delivered in 2024.
Toronto-based Porter operates a North American network with a fleet of E2s and De Havilland Dash 8-400s. The airline has 50 firm E2 orders and 50 options. Initial routes for the 132-seat aircraft are focused within Canada, but the airline intends to expand to the south, soon offering service to key markets in the US, as well as Mexico and the Caribbean.
