Korongo suspends operations after damaging sole aircraft
Korongo to suspend operations until 4th September following an incident on the runway, Air Transport World reports.
The carriers only aircraft, a Boeing B737-300, sustained damage to its horizontal stabiliser during takeoff due to loose runway tarmac, as ch-aviation reports.
The airline has claimed that unless action is taken to make the runway safe, it may boycott Mbuji Mayi airfield in the future.
The carrier commented: “We have taken the relevant authorities to task about the non-compliance of Mbuji Mayi's runway. Since this incident, which has affected our aircraft, could be repeated, it thus constitutes a serious risk to all operators who use the airport.”
