Kenya Airports Authority reassure safety in airports
After the leaked memo alluding to an al-Shabaab attack on Kenyan airports, the Kenya Airport Authority has announced that there is no immediate threat, and that passengers should continue as normal.
"We wish to inform the general public that the aviation industry is very sensitive to all security matters. We take proactive action on any intelligence information, however frivolous it may seem," said Kenya Airports Authority.
“Unfortunately the information was released prematurely without awaiting the due verification by the threat assessment experts form national aviation security committee and other security agencies,” said Kenya Airports Authority acting managing director Yatich Kangugo.
Security has been increased in multiple airports across the country, however travellers have been told to remain calm, as there is no real threat.
