Jordanian signs cargo MOU

Royal Jordanian Airlines and UK cargo operator MK Airlines have signed an MOU to jointly develop freight services in the Middle East.

MK Airlines, which is UK-registered by operates mainly from Ostend, is in administration but continuing to trade as part of the Belfair Management Group of companies, under widebody aircraft operator Transatlantic Aviation (TAA).

TAA operates 18 Boeing 767s, some of which were acquired from United Airlines, and two 747s, as well as dealing with engines, parts and interiors.

In a statement Royal Jordanian says that the deal will feed capacity for the Amman-based carrier's Airbus A310 freighter network as well as 747s and 767s with MK.

Royal Jordanian says the memorandum covers special prorate and block-space agreements, while co-operation will be extended to handling, a discipline that it says is "a particular area of expertise" of the UK cargo carrier.
