Spanish carrier Wamos Air plans to begin fitting wireless IFE supplier Moment’s Flymingo Box on its aircraft.

The privately owned airline, based at Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD), belongs to the Wamos Group, a major provider of tourist services in southern Europe. The airline operates scheduled flights, charter and wet-leasing operations, notably for several French carriers. Its focus is primarily on vacation destinations, in regions such as the Caribbean and Mexico.

The airline has a fleet of nine aircraft in a mix of Airbus A330-200s and -300s. The initial fitting-out of two aircraft is scheduled for June, the electronics supplier said June 2.

Moment, which provides entertainment, e-commerce and connectivity services for the travel industry, successfully offered Wamos Air the Flymingo Box system, which will provide passengers with a range of digital services including information and entertainment.

The system’s features include a customer-oriented portal—MOOD (Modular Open On Demand)—offering entertainment content tailored to Hispanic travelers.

Moment also provides a Crew Application that facilitates cabin operations, allowing them to monitor and manage the service. The system’s portable wireless IFE (W-IFE) server is positioned in an overhead bin and is secured by a mechanical kit.

“Our growth strategy is based on the development of new routes, but also on an enhanced relationship with passengers,” Wamos continuous airworthiness manager Javier Senent Sansegundo said. “This cost-efficient W-IFE solution was selected due to its ability to easily provide entertainment services without complex technical installation.”
