IATA release latest premium traffic monitor during May highlighting African route fluctuations
The International Air Transport Association's (IATA) latest Premium traffic monitor, based on data provided by airlines worldwide during May 2015 has ben released.
Most notable for Africa are the significant fluctuations on the routes linking the continent with the following major markets:
Africa - Far East (NB - this is currently, by a considerable margin, the fastest shrinking Premium route market in the world)
Premium traffic May ’15 vs May ’14: -27.0 percent drop
Premium traffic Year to Date (YTD) 2015: -15 percent decline
Economy class May ’15 vs May ’14: -13.9 percent fall
Economy class YTD 2015: -11 percent drop
Africa - Middle East (NB - this is currently the fastest growing Premium route market in the world)
Premium traffic May ’15 vs May ’14: 22.8 percent growth
Premium traffic Year to Date (YTD) 2015: 10.1 percent increase
Economy class May ’15 vs May ’14: 14.3 percent up
Economy class YTD 2015: 7 percent growth

Premium traffic Year to Date (YTD) 2015: -5.3 percent decline
Economy class May ’15 vs May ’14: -0.4 percent fall
