Gulf Air cancels a third of its 787 fleet
Bahrain carrier Gulf Air is reported to be the mystery airline that cancelled eight Boeing 787 Dreamliners last month
Air Transport Intelligence (ATI) claims the airline which ordered 16 of the twinjets in January 2008 and supplemented them with a further eight in April 2009 - is behind the drop in orders with the US manufacturer.
Boeing's latest backlog figures revealed last night showing that the 2008 order has been halved to eight of the type.
Gulf Air has been restructuring its fleet in favour of smaller-capacity aircraft, and has A320s on order and is also widely beleived to be an early adopter of the C-Series aircraft from Bombardier
