Goldstar Airlines is to lease a B767 ahead of launch
Ghana's Goldstar Airlines plans to lease a B767-3 in preparation of its launch in December, ch-aviation reports.
Goldstar Airlines CEO Eric Bannerman told the Ghana News Agency that the completion of certification would allow Goldstar to expand into the United Kingdom, the United States, and eventually into China.
“All is set for the take off to London Gatwick and Baltimore Thurgood Marshall in December 2015. What is left now is for the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GhCAA) to fix a date for its officials to go and inspect the aircraft and its maintenance base in Lisbon, Portugal,” Bannerman said.
The start-up has previously struggled with gaining certification, after employees held a protest against the GhCAA earlier this year.
It also faces a large amount of competition, with Ghanaian start-ups Fly540 Ghana, Royal Fly-Gh and SmileAir planning to get their AOC’s in preparation of launching flights to Asia, Europe and the United States.
