The GCAA releases a statement about Flydubai air crash
The United Arab Emirates General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has released a statement about the tragic Flydubai Boeing 737-800 aircraft crash this morning.
“The GCAA has learned with sadness about the tragic Flydubai Boeing 737-800 aircraft crash. The aircraft with registration A6-FDN, operating flight FZ981 from Dubai to Rostov-on-Don, Russian Federation, has been involved in an accident at the destination.
The initial information indicates that there were 55 passengers and seven crewmembers on-board the aircraft with no survivors.
"We are extremely sad over this tragic accident, and extend our sincere sympathy to all the families and their loved ones,” said Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, minister of economy and chairman of the GCAA."
“Being the responsible body for the investigation into air accidents in the UAE, the Air Accident Investigation Unit of the GCAA will participate in the investigation by Accredited Representative and Advisors who have been deployed to work closely with the Russian authorities to conduct the investigation according to the international standards,” said Saif Mohamad Al Suwaidi, GCAA director general.
