FlySafair flight forced to make emergency landing for second time in a week
A second FlySafair flight to Cape Town was forced to turn back to Johannesburg after cabin pressure dropped, Eyewitness News has reported.
The loss of pressure at 32,000 feet prompted a rapid decent, during which the pilot was unable to communicate with passengers.
FlySafair CEO Elmar Conradie said, “Obviously the captain needs full focus on making sure the aeroplane lands safely. So at that point he can’t really communicate with passengers; the air hostesses would have given instructions on what to do.”
The incident follows a similar occurrence that happened last week, where a Cape Town flight had to land after gradual pressure loss.
FlySafair’s technical teams are currently looking into the incident, but say that the two aren’t connected.
