FlyAfrica prepares to launch

FlyAfrica is preparing for an imminent launch after obtaining its operating license from Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ).

The carrier lost its license last October after failing to meet requirements and having disputes with shareholders.
The first route launched will be Harare-Johannesburg, competing with Air Zimbabwe and South African Airways, on the carrier’s newly acquired B737-M500.
“As soon as they complete the various stages they are going through, we will be ready to start,” said Cassidy Mugwagwa, chairman of Nu-Aero, which is now the full owner of FlyAfrica.
Prior to losing its license, the carrier planned to launch routes Harare to Lusaka and Lubumbashi, and the Victoria Falls-Kilimanjaro route.
