Fastjet celebrates two millionth passenger
Fastjet is celebrating flying two million passengers across Africa, 15 months after reaching the carrier's first million passengers last January.
The two millionth passenger was Tanzanian resident Peace Mteketa Matovu, who flew from Nairobi to Dar es Salaam, where she was given a bouquet of flowers.
The carrier has flown more than 21,800 since its launch in 2012, and now provides passengers with travel between 11 African destinations.
“We have also increased flights to more than 250 scheduled return flights a week across our network, making air travel affordable and accessible to more Africans and enabling them to fly more often for business and leisure,” said Richard Bodin, chief operating officer.
“It took us two years to fly our first million passengers, and just 15 months to fly the next million. We’re looking forward to making it possible for more people to fly to more destinations, with nearly four out of ten fastjet passengers flying for the first time,” continued Bodin.
Fastjet was named Africa’s Leading Low-Cost Airline at the 23rd Annual World Travel Awards held in Zanzibar earlier this month.
