Emirates teams up with Boeing and PIA for Pakistan relief flights

Emirates, along with Pakistan International Airlines and Boeing finished a relief project to ensure medical relief was delivered to Pakistan. Following the recent fighting in the region 3 million Pakistanis have been made homeless and Boeing facilitated the donation of goods from Direct Relief International.

The supplies were loaded on to Emirates’ newest 777 and its 77th, which departed Boeing’s Paine Field site for Dubai on Friday. The relief goods were then transferred to a PIA 777 for the flight o Islamabad where they were handed over to the Pakistan Institute of Prosthetic and Orthotic Sciences for nationwide distribution.

“We are most appreciative of Emirates for accommodating the loading and transportation of these medical supplies,” said Capt. Aijiz Haroon, PIA’s managing director. “In our competitive business, it is always a pleasure to see people working together across borders towards a noble cause and we believe projects such as this serve to strengthen our relationships over the long-term.”
