Emirates demands apology from European Commission
Emirates airline has demanded a public apology from the European Commission over a report accusing the carrier of misleading passengers over ticket prices at its Web site.
The airline has sent an official complaint to the EC’s Directorate General for Health and Consumers a few days ago, requesting the apology the Khaleej Times has reported.
Emirates was one of nine airlines cited by the EC earlier this month for failing to address concerns about misleading customers on their Internet sites.
“We are at a loss to understand how an investigation, which is supposed to be serving Europe’s consumers, could be carried out in such an unprofessional and ill-thought out fashion,” Emirates said on its Web site. “Emirates was excluded from the report’s consultation process and then wrongly chastised over a technicality relating to a review of a single Web site in Malta. We have 93 sites for the airline in 70 countries in 13 languages,” the airline said.
