Camair-Co ends long-haul operations
Camair-Co terminated scheduled passenger flights to Paris CDG, France, on Friday, September 30 citing a network restructuring exercise, reports ch-aviation.
The route was the Cameroonian carrier's only longhaul service and was usually plied with its flagship aircraft, B767-300.
Newly appointed chairman Mefiro Oumarou told a board meeting that the carrier would refocus its attention on the domestic market by developing routes to the north-western and western cities of Bamenda and Bafoussem in particular. It already serves Garoua, Maroua, N'Gaoundéré, and Yaoundé Nsimalen using its MA-60 and B737-700 fleets.
Camair-Co is set to embark on a restructuring programme with its sole-shareholder, the Cameroon government, having pledged to recapitalise it to the amount USD101 million while at the same time restructuring USD59 million worth of its debt.
