AVI Awards seven finalists announced
Submissions for the AVI Awards 2015 have been narrowed down to seven contenders, with the winner of the awards due to be announced at the ceremony tomorrow.
The ceremony will take place tomorrow at the CSIR ICC in Pretoria, and provides a platform to showcase and celebrate innovative minds in South Africa.
The AVI Awards are the result of a partnership between the Air Traffic Navigation Services (ATNS) and Technology Innovation Agency (TIA), who both make considerable investments in aviation innovation.
“The entries received simply shows that our stakeholders are diverse – the media, industry and ordinary South Africans participated. The message is clear – there is innovation within the aviation space that remains largely undiscovered,” said ATNS CEO, Thabani Mthiyane.
The finalists for the award are: Dr Mohamed Reza Mia from Pegasus Universal Aerospace, Michael Inggs from the University Of Cape Town (UCT), Siyabonga Kalipa from The Cape Argus newspaper, Tebogo Thamage from The Daily Sun, Maria Davel from Belgium Campus, Mark Van Wyk from FlyH2 Aerospace and Paballo Thekiso from The Saturday Star.
