Astra Aviation opens Harare facility

Astra Aviation has opened a new flight support location at Harare International Airport, to become operational in January.

The new location is being managed by Corrina Pickard and with three members of staff.
Astra Aviation has attracted mainly Boeing 747 and McDonnell Douglas MD-11 freighter operators, and the new location will mean the company benefits from hangar space through partner Southern Skies Aviation. The hangar provides space for four Beech King Air 200’s, or one Beech 1900C, with parking on the ramp outside for seven King Air’s.
The company will also provide Meet and Assist Services as a concierge for business and tourist visitors, which will help with transfers, bookings and tourist services.
Phil Eyre, Managing Director of Astra Aviation, adds: “We are pleased to expand our presence in Harare and Corrina Pickard is an experienced partner to manage the business. There is opportunity to serve the recovering tourist sector despite the fluctuations of the Zimbabwean economy.”
Astra Aviation plans to continue its expansion, developing offices in Victoria Falls and expanding its facility at Livingstone Airport.
