Tunisair eyes North American opportunity

Tunisian flag carrier, Tunisair is reportedly evaluating the possibility of launching new services to New York and Montreal. The airline does not currently have the equipment that has the range to link Tunis with these destinations however, it does have three A330-200 on order, as well as for the longer term A350-800 on order.

There is currently no scheduled service between North America and Tunisia, however Tunisair does operate an extensive European network.

It currently operates 25 cities from its main Tunis base, with a strong presence in France, given the high flows of VFR traffic.

Tunisair operates 64 weekly flights to Paris Orly, the cheaper of the main Paris airports in terms of fees, 20 weekly services to the French Southern city of Marseilles, as well as 19 flights to the Cote D'Azur into Nice. Additionally it also serves Lyon, Nantes, Toulouse and Bordeaux. In total Tunisair services to France account for 51% of all scheduled departures from Tunis.
