In this dense corridor between Boston and New York there are 6 million people within a one hour drive; 10 million people within a 2 hour drive and 15 million people within a 3 hour drive. Almost two-thirds (64%) of New England’s population lives within 75 miles of T.F. Green and 25% of the US population lives within 500 miles of PVD. With an average of 170 daily flights, the airport offers nonstop and one stop service to and from many popular domestic and international markets.

Boasting the tagline, “Redefining Hassle-Free Travel”, the airport truly puts the customer experience at the forefront of its daily operations. A streamlined security checkpoint, automated baggage handling system and first rate local and national food concessions and shops have been added or improved upon in the last few years.

SmarterTravel.com has named T.F. Green one of the most stress free airport’s in America. In 2009 and again in 2010, Travel + Leisure Magazine readers voted T.F. Green one of the top airports in the country. PVD ranked number one in on-time arrivals, security and baggage handling and second in overall functionality. And JD Powers and Associates ranked T.F. Green Airport as the 6th best airport in North America, when compared to similar sized airports.

T. F. Green Airport is constantly courting new air carriers and strengthening relations with existing carriers: Southwest, US Airways, Delta, United, Air Canada and Cape Air. Southwest Airlines recently started new seasonal non-stop service between PVD and Ft. Myers. The carrier also added non-stop service to Denver, a new destination for the airport. .

The airport is known for its seamless regional connectivity with easy highway access, commuter rail service and discounted frequent parker programs. PVD opened the InterLink transportation hub opened in Fall of 2010. Designed for its ease of travel, the facility centralizes multiple transportation functions with a consolidated rental car facility, commuter parking and rail platform serving MBTA commuter trains with regional train service extending to Boston. This spring the service will extend 8 miles further south and the number of trips and frequency will also increase.

The InterLink consolidates rental car operations into one building and has streamlined the process for both rental car companies and customers, who now have a direct connection between rental car services and the airport. It facilitates the direct train, intercity bus, rental car, plane connection to provide multiple transportation options to travelers. This allows passengers to step off the train or return their rental car and be at the airport for a flight in a matter of minutes.

The addition of the InterLink provides a unique marketing tool for the airport. “This is considered an attractive option as it will provide an additional and convenient way for our customers to access the airport. It is also of interest to international carriers and passengers, who depend on this type of connectivity. This facility will be a true transportation gateway for the region,” said Kevin Dillon, President and CEO of the Rhode Island Airport Corporation. The success of the commuter rail connection is already evident as numbers of travelers and commuters utilize the MBTA service. The number is steadily rising and expected to continue to increase as the rail service offerings increase.
