Aeroitalia, which launched operations in 2022, will open service between Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY) and London Southend Airport (SEN) in March.

The carrier will fly the BGY-SEN route 6X-weekly from March 25. “The new route will offer a convenient connection to Italy’s fashion hub of Milan, with leisure-friendly morning departure times attracting travelers from both ends of the route,” SEN says in a statement.

The service will be operated with a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

SEN notes it has entered into a “partnership” with Aerotalia, “with more routes to follow.”

SEN CEO John Upton adds: “This partnership marks a significant milestone for London Southend Airport, providing our passengers in the east of London and Southeast England with a convenient gateway to the heart of Italian football, fashion and culture in Milan.”

BGY will become the 11th destination served by airlines from SEN.

Giacomo Cattaneo, commercial director at BGY, adds: “Our airport's network is strengthened with a destination that serves both the Essex region and the British capital thanks to the rail connection that allows passengers to reach the center of London quickly and frequently.”

Aeroitalia's aircraft are based at BGY and Rome Fiumicino Airport, with sub-bases on the islands of Sicily and Sardinia.
