Royal Jordanian begins flights to Berlin

Royal Jordanian yesterday inaugurated its direct, regular service between Amman and Berlin, thus introducing a third route between Jordan and Germany.

The German capital is the 59th destination for the airline, and is an attraction for Middle Eastern tourists, according to Royal Jordanian’s president and CEO, Hussein Dabbas.

Dabbas said that that the decision to resume service to Berlin is based on economic considerations: “There is growth in demand for travel between the Jordanian and German capitals due to the increase in the commercial activity and in exports, which increases demand for travel by businessmen and citizens of the two countries. In addition, there is an active movement of tourists from Germany to the Kingdom during normal, stable conditions.”

The Royal Jordanian president said that the airline will operate to Berlin on the Airbus A320 family of aircraft with three weekly flights, departing from Amman on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. He added that once the German carrier airberlin joins Royal Jordanian as a member of the oneworld airline alliance in early 2012, Royal Jordanian passengers will be able to continue their flights beyond Berlin on the European continent.
Dabbas said that the airline is constantly reviewing its route network in line with its policy of gradual expansion and in 2010 it added Madinah, Saudi Arabian and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to its destinations. New routes are currently under study for the possibility of being added in the future.
