Voting has now closed for the fourth regional heat of the 2013 Routes Airport Marketing Awards and the shortlisted airports were announced earlier this week.
The Routes Africa Awards 2013 will see a number of innovations for the event in Kampala which will be continued throughout the year at all other Routes events, culminating at World Routes in Las Vegas this October.
These innovations include a blended approach to the shortlisted airports where the final shortlist will include a number of airports who will be shortlisted using our online voting form together with a number of airports who have been shortlisted by a panel of industry experts drawn from the airline network planning community. This year the awards have been split into two categories based on the size of the airport. There will be one winner from each category and one of those winners will also be announced as the overall winner for the entire African region. This year will also see, for the first time at Routes Africa, the addition of a Destination Marketing Award for the best destination marketing campaign by a tourism authority.
Whichever airport wins this highly sought after industry accolade will be automatically shortlisted for the World Routes Airport Marketing Awards which will take place at the event in Las Vegas, 5th– 8thOctober 2013.
