PRESS RELEASE: Routes Americas Officially Handed Over To 2025 Hosts

As the 2024 edition of the event came to a close, El Dorado International Airport handed over the hosting responsibilities of Routes Americas to the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board in partnership with Nassau Airport Development Company, and The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation.

Routes Americas, which is held in a different location each year, brings together airlines, airports and tourism authorities to drive air service development across the Americas. Over 3,000 meetings are expected to take place at the event next year which will be pivotal in defining the region’s future air connectivity.

Located in Nassau, Lynden Pindling International Airport is the main international gateway to The Bahamas and the first airport outside of the U.S. to implement TSA PreCheck and one of the few select airports offering U.S. Customs and Immigration Preclearance, along with U.S. Global Entry, making it easy for those arriving in the destination to get through security and begin their vacation or arrive back home with ease. With nonstop flights from 24 destinations – including most major U.S. cities as well as destinations in Europe and Central America – and many connecting services through major international hubs, Nassau Paradise Island attracts travellers from around the world annually.

In 2023, Nassau and Paradise Island welcomed the first ever nonstop flight from Los Angeles and Seattle, further expanding the ease of travel to the resort capital of The Bahamas. Ranking among the top destinations for international travel, the destination welcomed nine million visitors last year.

One of the most popular destinations in the world, Nassau and Paradise Island in The Bahamas are known for having some of the most beautiful white sand beaches in the world, turquoise blue water, the Caribbean’s best entertainment and a spectrum of resorts from ultra-exclusive to family friendly. Hosting the event will be a significant opportunity for Nassau to showcase the island’s market potential to decision makers from leading airlines, airports, and tourism authorities from across the Americas and around the world.

Joy Jibrilu, CEO of Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board, said “We are thrilled to be hosting Routes Americas in 2025, as we bring together industry professionals for a few days of unmissable programming in our breathtaking destination to learn how we can better unite regions around the world through air service development. Nassau and Paradise Island continue to grow, and with our airport arrivals already breaking records this year, we are excited to welcome some of the top decision-makers in the industry to our shores. In addition to networking and meeting opportunities, attendees will experience the beauty of The Bahamas and all that the destination has to offer.”

Steven Small, Director of Routes, said “Routes Americas is the region’s leading route development forum, connecting aviation decision makers from across the Americas. By uniting this community, Nassau and Paradise Island will be able to showcase its market potential and display its many impressive attractions to the very people who will drive future travel and tourism to the destination. We look forward to working with the team over the next year to deliver what we are certain will be a very highly awaited and successful event.”
