CHINA EASTERN RAMPS UP DELHI CAPACITY

南航增加德里航线运力

China Eastern will increase existing capacity from its Shanghai Pudong hub to Delhi. From December 2nd it will introduce a new weekly frequency, meaning that it will now operate four-weekly flights to the Indian capital. The route is operated with A340-300 equipment and will compete directly with Air India's four-times weekly A330-200 service. IATA BSP data shows that between June 2009 and 2010 over 69,000 O+D passengers flew the route with Air India having a 43% market share.

OMAN AIR TO GO FIVE-WEEKLY ON COLOMBO

Muscat based Oman Air will introduce new capacity to the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo. The fifth-weekly frequency will come into effect from October 31st and is a non-stop service, with the four other weekly services operating as a tag via Male in the Maldives. SriLankan Airlines also operates a twice-weekly non-stop flight on the route. Oman Air currently has a 37% share of the O+D market.

MASWINGS ADDS NEW BRUNEI LINK

MASwings, the regional subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines will begin a new winter season service from Kota Kinabalu to Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. The service, effective October 31st, will be operated on a daily basis with ATR-72 equipment. Royal Brunei currently operates a double daily service with a mix of A319 and A320 aircraft, whilst AirAsia operates a weekly service, also with A320 equipment. Royal Brunei Airlines currently has a 55% share of the nearly 200,000 annual O+D market.

TIGER ROARS INTO MANILA

Singapore's low-cost carrier Tiger Airways will launch a daily service for the coming winter season to Manila from its Singapore base. The carrier will then make it a twice daily route from December 1st. There are currently 96 weekly flights between Singapore and Manila, with Singapore Airlines operating 26 weekly flights, Philippine Airlines also 26 weekly flights, with low-cost operators, Cebu Pacific offering 25 weekly services and Jetstar Asia 17 weekly services.

ARPHILL EXPRESS TO LINK CEBU WITH SINGAPORE

Manila based operator Arphill Express will inaugurate new service between Cebu and Singapore with the introduction of a daily A320 service from December 1st. Silk Air currently operates five-weekly frequencies with Cebu Pacific offering four-weekly flights. IATA BSP data shows that over 73,000 O+D passengers travelled between the two markets between June 2009 and June 2010 with Cebu Pacific having a 53% share.
