DELTA EXPANDS MEXICAN SERVICES

SkyTeam member Delta Airlines will begin new services to Cancun from four markets in the US, effective February 19. It will add a weekly service from Austin, Colombus Ohio, Tampa and San Antonio.

Delta currently operates Cancun from seven markets in the US, according to November schedules from Flightbase. It is the fourth largest US carrier in the Cancun market behind American Airlines, Continental Airlines and US Airways.

American Eagle inaugurated new non-stop service from LaGuardia, New York to Charlotte, North Carolina this week, a route dominated by Star Alliance member US Airways. American will serve the route 34 times weekly on a sector where over 443,000 passengers have flown between June 2009-10 with US Airways having a 69% share of the O+D traffic.


UNITED TO BEGIN FLIGHTS TO MAMMOTH LAKE

Star Alliance member, United Airlines, will begin scheduled flights from San Francisco to Mammoth Lake, California effective 16th December until April 24th 2011. The service will be operated on a daily rotation with Skywest operating the service with regional aircraft.

German leisure carrier, Condor, which is part of the Thomas Cook group has revealed that for the Summer 2011 season it will add twice weekly service from Frankfurt to Calgary. The route will be operated with B767-300 aircraft.


RALEIGH DURHAM GAINS DELTA BOOST

Raleigh Durham, North Carolina, has been boosted by the announcement that Delta Air Lines will begin five new routes effective November 1st. Delta will begin frequencies to Hartford (twice daily), Colombus (six -weekly), Orlando (thrice-daily), St Louis (twice-daily)and also Tampa (twice-daily).

Delta is the largest seat operator at RDU with 24% of the existing scheuled seat capacity, closely followed by Southwest Airlines.
