More than $374  million in grants has been committed to airports across the U.S. under the third round of the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program (AIP).

The grants will fund various projects, including constructing new and improved airport facilities; repairing runways and taxiways; maintaining airfield lighting and signage; and purchasing equipment needed to operate and maintain airports.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg says the investments will “allow hundreds of airports to make critical improvements” and ensure the U.S. aviation infrastructure is “safer, more resilient and more efficient.”

Among the grants is a $15.5 million boost for Boston Logan International Airport to rehabilitate Taxiway N, while $4.6 million will go toward reconstructing the existing Central Terminal building at Miami International Airport.

Stillwater Regional Airport in Oklahoma will receive $7.2 million to fund the construction of a new terminal building; Denver International Airport will receive $6.3 million to rehabilitate taxiways; and Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport in Alabama will receive $6.9 million to reconstruct several taxiways.

Other projects will see $10 million go to Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport in Kentucky, $7.8 million to Portland International Airport and $4.4 million to Rick Husband Amarillo International, Texas.

Overall, 311 airports in 46 U.S. states and American Samoa have been awarded grants under the latest round of the AIP. The program receives approximately $3.3 billion in funding each year.
