Meet The Winners: Prague Airport

Prague Airport (PRG) welcomed more than 17.7 million passengers in 2025, an 8.5% year-on-year increase. The airport’s success has been driven by significant network development, particularly across the long-haul sector, helping secure its position as the Overall Winner at the Routes Europe 2026 Awards.

Over the past 12 months, PRG has experienced substantial growth across its route network, attracting 12 new airline partners, launching more than 20 new destinations and increasing capacity on 55 existing routes.

During 2025, PRG welcomed new services to Seoul with Asiana Airlines, Abu Dhabi with Etihad Airways, Toronto with Air Canada and Sharjah with Air Arabia, providing passengers with enhanced access to markets across Asia, North America and the Middle East.

The momentum has continued into 2026 with American Airlines launching a new daily service to Philadelphia in May. The route provides the Czech market with direct access to a major U.S. hub, opening a wide range of onward connections across North America.

Most recently, flyadeal expanded PRG’s Middle East connectivity with the introduction of 3X- weekly services to both Riyadh and Jeddah.

Another milestone will follow in August when Starlux Airlines launches flights between Taipei and Prague, making PRG the carrier’s first European destination. Operating 3X-weekly, PRG estimates the new service to be used by more than 95,000 passengers in both directions during its first year of operation.

Speaking on its recent achievements Jiri Vyskoc, Executive Director, Aviation Business Development at PRG, said: “We continue in our efforts to remain a reliable and trustworthy partner to our airlines. Prague Airport provides quality data, market analysis and marketing support to develop routes.”

PRG has also strengthened its short-haul network across Europe. New destinations include routes to Bordeaux, operated by easyJet and Volotea, Cork with Aer Lingus, Eurowings’ additions of Faro and Ibiza, and Wizz Air’s introduction of flights to Iasi, Skopje and Timisoara.

The airport’s achievements in route development, airline engagement and marketing were recognized at the Routes Europe 2026 Awards, where PRG was named both the Overall Winner and the winner of the 5–20 Million Passengers category.

“It’s a great recognition for the Prague Airport team and is the highest award we could achieve,” said Vyskoc. “It wouldn’t be possible without the support of our partners, including tourism and state authorities. It’s also the result of active collaborative with our airline partners, and we thank them for their trust, confidence and cooperation.”

Routes Europe 2026 also provided an important platform for the airport to engage directly with airline partners and explore future growth opportunities.

“The most beneficial part has been the meetings with airline partners,” Vyskoc added. “It’s an opportunity for us to discuss new opportunities and projects with airlines. Exhibiting helps draw delegate attention which is a very valuable benefit.”

As a member of Routes 360, PRG updates the route development community on its latest developments and route successes, alongside the promotion of its unserved and underserved opportunities for airlines to capitalize on.
