Meet The Winners: Prague Airport

During Routes World 2025, Prague Airport was crowned the winner of the 10-20 Million Passengers category for the second consecutive year, recognized for its strong passenger growth and expanded airline partnerships.

Over the past 12 months, Prague Airport (PRG) increased passenger traffic by 8.5% to 17.8 million, driven by network expansion and new carrier additions. The airport has secured 11 new airlines—including American Airlines, SkyUp and Condor—and launched more than 50 new routes.

Serving the Czech Republic’s capital, PRG credits its continued success to targeted marketing initiatives and proactive route development efforts that have resulted in 24 new destinations and frequency increases across more than 100 existing services.

Among the key developments in the airport’s long-haul network are Etihad Airways’ new service to Abu Dhabi, Air Canada’s seasonal route from Toronto, Asiana Airlines’ connection from Seoul, and Air Arabia’s flights from Sharjah. Looking ahead to 2026, American Airlines plans to launch nonstop service between Prague and Philadelphia.

Within Europe, PRG has expanded its network with several new routes, including Vilnius with airBaltic, Zagreb operated by Croatia Airlines, Skopje and Yerevan launched by Wizz Air, Toulouse added by Smartwings, and Marrakech introduced by Eurowings.

Jiri Vyskoc, executive director of aviation business development at Prague Airport, told Routes that several unserved European markets remain priorities for the airport’s network expansion, including Hamburg and Palermo. On the long-haul front, PRG aims to enhance connectivity with key Asian capitals such as Hanoi, Bangkok and New Delhi.

Having been named the winner of the 10–20 Million Passengers category at the Routes World Awards for the second consecutive year, PRG has been praised by airlines worldwide for its dynamic incentive programs and strong marketing support that underpin its route development strategy.

“We are really excited to receive this prestigious award for the second year in a row,” Vyskoc said. “It’s a great achievement and recognition for our activities. It wouldn’t have been possible without the great partnership and cooperation of our airlines. We feel very honored and humble to have received this award.”
