Malaysia Airlines increases Jakarta frequency

Malaysia Airlines will launch a 6th daily freuquency from its Kuala Lumpur hub to Jakarta that it operates using B737-400 equipment.

The KUL-CGK sector is considered a trunk route and Malaysia Airlines faces considerable competition, with the following carriers operating the market pairs.

  • Garuda - 9x weekly
  • Yemenia - 2x weekly
  • Lion Airlines 7x weekly
  • KLM (tag) 7x weekly
  • Kuwait Airways 3x weekly
  • Air Asia (Indonesia) 28x weekly

IATA BSP data (Airport IS) shows that over 1 million passengers flew the route between Oct 08-09.
