Lufthansa Uses Routes to Expand in Munich

German national carrier Lufthansa is to expand its European network from its Munich hub and has identified Routes’ events as a major factor in it achieving this latest stage of its network growth. The airline will introduce links from Munich to the Croatian city of Pula and the southern French city of Montpellier during summer 2012 and opened reservations for the two routes earlier this week.

The two routes will be served on a weekly basis with Saturday rotations and will mainly target leisure travellers. The flight to Montpellier is due to launch in April, while Pula will be added in May. The Montpellier flight will be operated by a Bombardier CRJ900, while a Bombardier Dash 8-Q400 will fly to Pula. Lufthansa will also open seasonal routes to Bastia, Jersey, Odessa and Valencia during summer 2012.

“We are delighted to be able to further expand our presence at our Bavarian hub in Munich” said Marjana Zigun, Network Planning Manager for Lufthansa in Munich. “We held important meetings with both Pula and Montpellier Airport at the World Routes event in Berlin.”
