Low cost operator, Norwegian, has earmarked its Bergen base for six new routes commencing in March 2010. The new routes are;

• Copenhagen 6x weekly
• Stockholm x 6x weekly
• Barcelona 2x weekly
• Rome 2x weekly
• Crete 1x weekly
• Antalya 1x weekly

All sectors will be operated with B737-800 aircraft.

Currently there is no scheduled service from Bergen to Barcelona, Rome, Crete or Antalya. However SAS does operate between Bergen and the capital city markets of Copenhagen and Stockholm. Between Bergen and Copenhagen SAS operates 27 weekly frequencies with a mix of generally smaller equipment. From Stockholm to Bergen, SAS operates a 3x weekly rotation.

SAS is currently the largest operator at Bergen with over 700 weekly departures giving it over a 50% market share. Norwegian currently operates over 300 weekly services from Bergen, giving the carrier a 23% market share.
